Visas

Issuance of entry visas is the exclusive competence and sovereignty of each nation. Every country uses different criteria and requirements for the entry and stay of foreigners in its territories, and foreign authorities may not interfere in this matter. Remember that the required requirements may vary depending on the purpose of the trip.

  • Visas to travel to other countries

Brazilian passport holders are visa free to travel tourism to more than 150 countries worldwide. This does not mean, however, that entry requirements in other countries should not be met. Lodging certificates, proof of travel purpose, invitation letters and return tickets to Brazil may be (and often are) required by foreign authorities for entry into other countries. Check carefully before you travel for the documentation required for entry to your chosen destination. Upon arrival in the country, present all documents to the border authorities.

In addition to the destination chosen for the trip, it is also necessary to observe the possible visa requirement in transit countries. Even if the final destination does not require a visa from Brazilian citizens, it is possible that the transit country, if any, may apply for a special type of visa. Inform yourself in advance of this need.

Although Brazilian nationals do not need a visa to enter the country as a tourist, it is possible to have a visa requirement for nationals traveling for work or study. In such cases, make sure you have obtained the correct visa, depending on the purpose of your trip. It is worth remembering that, in many countries, incorrect visa submission (not in accordance with the travel objectives) may result in detention.

Brazilian citizens wishing to obtain any other visa information for travel to other countries should contact the Consular Representations (Embassy or Consulate) of those countries directly.
